Steve Kern, who holds the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation, has been an independent trader and technical analyst since 2000. He has focused exclusively on option trading strategies since 2005, and uses several techniques including candlesticks, support and resistance, pair trades, relative strength, and volatility trading. Steve has been an airline captain, flight instructor, high school math & chemistry teacher, and computer programmer. His education includes an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Regis University in Denver, and a BS in Applied Mathematics from UCLA. He did research in the UCLA Space Physics Department for two years as an undergrad.
Steve earned his CMT designation in 2012 and was involved with the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) as a member of its board of directors from 2007-2013. This involvement along with his financial training has led to his interest in improving retirement plans and retirement education. Steve founded the Phoenix Chapter of the Chartered Market Technician Association in 2012 and currently serves as a co-chair.
