Sergio Santamaria is a senior research associate/portfolio manager and adjunct finance
professor at the Garrison Financial Institute and the Walton College of Business (University of Arkansas), respectively. Before joining the Walton College, he was a portfolio manager at Garrison Financial Advisors, a boutique investment firm, where he co-managed a start-up hedge fund and provided asset allocation to ultra-high-net-worth individuals. His previous professional experience includes different sales positions at the Spanish financial institutions Banesto (Santander Group) and Avalmadrid.
Sergio is both a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CMT (Chartered Market Technician)
charterholder. An active volunteer of CFA Institute, he served as a board member of the CFA Society of Arkansas from 2010 to 2020 and president of the society and the board from September 2016 to September 2018.
In 2019, he was appointed as the chair of the editorial committee of the Journal of Technical Analysis. Besides traditional finance courses such as Financial Analysis and Investments, Sergio has been teaching a full-semester Technical Analysis class since 2010 and believes strongly in fusion analysis.
Sergio graduated with honors from the Walton College of Business with an MBA in finance.
Also, he holds two bachelor degrees from the University Carlos III of Madrid, Spain: the first one in Business and the second one in Actuarial and Financial Sciences.
