Chief Market Technician

JC O’Hara is with MKM Partners as their Chief Market Technician.  JC started his career on the buy side at Neuberger Berman, working on the Private Asset Management team as a fundamental analyst, then transitioned to MF Global where he served as Vice President and worked on the Technical Analysis Research team. He later moved to Phoenix Partners Group where he led the firm’s Technical & Quantitative Research team. Before he moved to MKM Partners he was the Chief Market Technician at FBN Securities in New York, as a key member of the Portfolio Strategy team.

JC blends the traditional pillars of technical analysis, including trend recognition, momentum measures, sentiment gauges and intermarket relationships along with specific quantitative methods. He uses his extensive bottom-up analysis to assess the short, intermediate, and long-term direction for U.S. equities. He authors Weekly Technical Strategy reports and Daily Market Commentary with the goal of supplying the institutional investor with the pulse of the macro universe, and provides important guidance for navigating the investing environment with specific market, sector and stock recommendations all within the context of underlying volatility.

JC graduated Rutgers University with a degree in Economics. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations, and is a frequent on-air guest at major financial news networks and often quoted in major financial publications.
